According to the Motorcycle and Moped Industry Council, Canadian sales of scooters increased by more than 100 per cent over a five-year period ending in 2008.

Here's what's new for 2009.

DAELIM

The South Korean manufacturer offers the Cordi R and S1- 125 in 2009. The Cordi is a 49cc, air-cooled two-stroke single. It comes with a 10-inch front wheel, disk front brake and a rear drum.

The S1 is a 125cc, liquidcooled four-stroke that rolls on 13-inch wheels. It has a mono shock rear suspension and dual-piston front and rear brakes.

HYOSUNG

The MS3 250 is Hyosung's new maxi scoot. It's powered by a 249cc, DOHC four-stroke liquidcooled engine. Suspension is telescopic up front, with adjustable pre-load rear suspension. Equipped with a 13-inch front wheel, dual front disc brake and single rear disc, its claimed dry weight is 180 kg.

MMIC: Two-Wheel Sales Still Climbing!
